| Comments:To Veronica Howes - my father William McKittrick played bowls with a William Mckittrick Ryde NSW. The second William was a Commonwealth Bank Manager. His family came from Grafton. Many years ago, my father visited a home in the Ryde-Eastwood area. The family was a branch of the Grafton McKittricks. My father identified his great-grandfather? in one of their family photos. They had come (I believe)from Ireland via Liverpool, England, while my father's branch of the family had stayed in England. There is a McKittrick Park from in Grafton and many years ago there was a McKittrick Store. There was a hotel at Penrith - McKitrick's Log Cabin - on the Nepean River. My father ran into a few other McKittricks at different times. Most of them belonged to the Grafton McKittricks. Cheers and Good Luck! |

| Comments:Just hit on this as I am researching Capt. John McKittrick in 1790's-1800's in Washington Co., KY. He was b 1760 Augusta Co., VA moved to KY in 1790 died 2-1-1839 in Mackville, KY He was married twice Sarah (Sally) Williams & Jane Hogshead. His daughter Rebecca (Bexanah) married William F. Young in 1807. Their daughter Malissa married my gggrandfather Jeremiah Lowe in 1833. We are trying trace all we can to authenicate a tomahawk/peacepipe my dad had and sold in 1960's back to the McKittricks to Young to Lowe. It has recently re-sold for the upteemth time from collector to collector for $55,000.00. I have a good listing of all info from VA to KY on McKittricks but have not much or Young & Lowe. Any help out there? |

I fought the recall by requesting an exemption and won so I did not go. I had been out of the Army for 12 years and am 43 years old. This is a young man's game and I had no place in it. His brother Dale McKittrick passed away in 2004 from lung cancer. My aunt Joyce (Dale's wife) has been working hard with dad's cousin June Swanson to put together the history of the descendants of James Wallis and Mary (Young) McKittrick. James Wallis (born in 1855) is my great grandfather. Joyce traced the family line back to Robert McKittrick born in 1735 in Virginia (died 1795 in Harrison County, Kentucky; children - Robert, John, William, James, Sarah, Margaret, Isabella and Jane); Robert McKittrick born in 1754 in Virginia (died 1824 in Dearborn County, Indiana; children - David, Jane, Robert, John, Rebecca, Nancy, James and William Harrison); James McKittrick born in 1805 in Kentucky (died 1850 in Ripley County, Indiana; children - Robert W., David, James and Jarvis); Robert W. McKittrick born 1830 in Indiana (died 1908 in Jasper County, Iowa; children - John William, James Wallis, Mary M. and Martha Jane). Then came by great-grandfather and his brother John William (Willis) McKittrick (born in 1853; died in 1892 in Marshall County, Iowa). John had 5 children (Nellie, Eddie, Robert, Leffie and Nettie) and James Wallis had 7 (James Willis [Bill], Alvy Bertis, Della Elenora, John Connord, Wesley Thurman, Robert Leroy and Glen Dewey [my grandfather]) and then came all the rest of us, including my grandson who is now 9. We're having a McKittrick family reunion on July 3, 2005 in Bristol, SD so if any of you find that you're interested in finding out more about your long last relatives (as I'm sure we're probably related somewhere along the line), send us a note. In our family there is at least one James and at least one William per generation. Does anyone know the origin of this? It is unusual given the deciding battle between James and William at the Battle of the Boyne, and the opposing connotations of both names. Anyone?? |

| Comments:It was almost scary to discover that my surname had its own web domain- its not such a well used name here in Oxford. Anyway, here is a little history on our part of the Mckittrick family tree. My great grandfather Tom Mckittrick (a dentist in Ulster) had 4 children. The eldest Ian James Arthur Mckittrick was my grandfather. He was a very intelligent and modest man, but his achievements were great. He was part of the 6th airborne division which landed at Pegasus Bridge on D-Day - 6th June 1944. He survived the war and left the army as a Major. He then trained as a barrister and moved down to Exeter, and worked for the Justice system in Devon for the rest of his life. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire. Married to Mary Hobbs, I.J.A.Mckittrick had 2 children, Neil and Rosa. Neil Mckittrick is a circuit judge in Peterborough, UK. He shares his name with an attorney in Boston USA - what a small world!! He married Jean in 1975, and they have had 2 children, me (Mark Alastair Mckittrick) and Lucinda Mary Mckittrick. I wonder where we fit into the family tree!! |

The new mystery is that last week I found a picture that was lost for thirty years that could be either him or his father "James". | Comments: Hi - I've been trying for a couple of years to tie down the family of my paternal grandmother from Hardin County who married Newton Jacob Ziegler. Her name was Augusta(s)(sp?) "Gussie" McKitrick and she was born about Jan. 24, 1867. The various records available are creating confusion for me in that she is listed to two separate sets of parents,Alitha Duval and Iseael McKitrick, and Celetha Dewell and Wylie McKitrick. Some physician in the family started McKitrick Hospital in Kenton, OH., and it was there that that Gussie died on Jan. 18, 1921. If anyone has any info on these McKitricks I would greatly love to hear from you, and am happy to exchange info. Thanks! |

| Comments:Have been looking for relations called Kitterick. My granny was Esther Kitterick married to my grandad Fred Hunt. They lived in Kilcoole, Co Wicklow, Ireland. Some of the families of Esther and Fred still live in Kilcoole. My granny had a brother called Tom and a sister called Kate but I know nothing about them previous to the marriage, but am now curious. | Comments:ELIZABETH MCKITRICK came to America in 1885from BELFAST, IRELAND. Her fathers name was ROBERT. That is all I have on her. She married and had my grandmother. HOW can I trace her roots? I do not think they recorded anything when she arrived in USA back in 1885 (no Ellis Island). How can I find what ship she sailed on over to USA? This would give more personal information on the passenger list. All of the McKitricks I find arrive long before 1885. I c****ed city directory and she had no other relatives here. It is not only a way of honoring all the living McKittricks (and the various spellings), but also a quiet homage to all those no longer incarnate. What's more is that it is evolving as a potentially powerful site for genealogy connections.
